50% time of any general surgical rota (colorectal, vascular, HBP, Upper GI) is spend on-call for general surgery.

For a typical week, see your speciality.

Acute abdomen is probably the commonest presentation. It is therefore worth revising this thoroughly before starting a general surgical block. Full senior support is always available for any queries.

A&E bleep when an admission - go and see them, clerk them, and call a senior for review. Wards bleep when they require your attendance. If you are covering a weekend, you either cover ATC (Colorectal and vascular) or Main block (UPPER GI and HPB).

Colorectal on weekends often ask you to do on their ward rounds with them. Vascular usually go on ward rounds alone unless they specifically request help. N\A

Usually 1a but some jobs (colorectal are banded differently)
